Youth to World Youth Day 2008
We are a group of 13 going to experience the world of the Catholic Church. In 2005 11 youth and leaders went to Cologne, Germany, for WYD 2005. Thinking it was a “trip” and a vacation, they discovered the power of a pilgrimmage and capitalized on the opportunity to meet Catholic Youth from the whole world!! From Munich and a shrine to St. Anthony, through Dachau’s dark history, and Mainz and Stugaart, Bingen, Maria Lach, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Cologne — there were encounters that one could never have imagined. To get there, the youth raised the money by working week after week at a farmers’ market, begging for Christmas and birthday presents of a passpart and backpack, writing letters asking for grants from Bishop and the Chief of Police Richard Wiles, among others. What looked impossible at the outset was more than a fulfillment of dreams — it was a call to a change of life. Can you help this time round? We’re heading to Sydney to meet millions of youth of the Catholic Church from around the world!! We’ll take you with us in gratitude and prayer as we make pilgrimmage! We head out on July 13th!!
